EBONYS SAFE SPACE
Our Story
Ebony Wilson founded Ebonys Safe Space LLC in 2022. Ebony was raised in the Antelope Valley community, located in the high desert of Southern California. Like many other adolescents within the community, Ebony experienced various traumatic experiences, participated in unlawful behaviors, and indulged in underage marijuana and alcohol abuse. With the support of mentors, spiritual leaders, family, and her own self-will Ebony found purpose in her life. Upon graduating high school, she began her career as a para educator working in juvenile lockdown facilities throughout Los Angeles County. That is where she found her passion for social work and social justice. Witnessing firsthand the impact of trauma, broken family units, and oppressive systems on recidivism rates (kids going back and forth to jail), Ebony realized her purpose was to support the kids and families outside of the camp gates. She went along to obtain her Associate of Liberal Arts degree with an emphasis in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Antelope Valley College, and her Bachelor of Sociology & Master of Social Work degrees from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) as well as a Pupil Personnel Services credential from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
While in college Ebony worked with various groups of people including homeless adults, at-risk middle & high school students, college students (specifically students who were mothers) & seniors providing therapeutic/counseling services. After graduation Ebony continued her commitment to the Antelope Valley community and began her career as a Clinical Social Worker providing psychotherapy to children, families, and adults as a school based and wraparound therapist. While in those roles, Ebony seen the need for more relatable and collaborative care within the Antelope Valley. It was important for her that marginalized individuals felt seen, heard and most importantly SAFE! Ebony’s personal values of spirituality, empowerment, compassion, and respect fostered her dream of creating Ebonys Safe Space LLC. Now, we pride ourselves in providing safe, non-judgmental spaces where children, adults, and groups of all kinds can learn more about mental health, process their feelings, challenge themselves, and develop healthy coping strategies in order to become the best version of themselves.
